The "bijou" had been crowded that night and I was in no mood to have been out. Zeek insisted on going there. He had told me earlier that he was having a rough time at home and needed to blow off some steam. I don't know what exactly was happening with him or his wife Lyla but I didn't feel I was at liberty to ask. Sooooo anyway. The "bijou". We walked in and not a lot caught my attention at first. The room was buzzing like a hive. I walked up to the bar. The bartender asked if I'd like something to drink, perhaps a cocktail? I refused the drink, I had to work early in the morning. Oh wait, I lost my job last week. Never mind I'll have a Guinness.
Suddenly, I turned to the stage as this song came on. This very mellow techno song. I look and see this cage on the stage as big and as wide as the stage and this creature inside of it. Her name was Nola. Of course she had a stage name, Zia. The only light, the only color I could see had been blue. This effervescent blue. I look at her face. That face. Pale milky blue skin in the light. Her hair (of course it had been a wig) black and short in a kind of bob hair style. Her eyes finally, popped. Her dark make up had made them even more intense. They were inhumanly blue. They were a sky blue white I think, if you could even imagine.
Her persona was even inhuman. She crawled around the cage and performed a euphoric slowly choreographed dance. I think I had loved her from the very first time I laid eyes on her. Then again I think every man did. She is imprinted on my heart for the rest of my life. She looked in my direction and even under those blue lights shining in her eyes, in think she saw me. She stared right at me. Her eyes peered into my being.
